Presently, Scale of Internet is becoming large increasingly, types of carried traffic are more and more. Internet gives great benefit and affect to people's living and working.However, in recent years, a series of test result show that network traffic flow is self-similar and long-range dependent (LRD), which break old basic suppose that network traffic flow is short-range dependent. Then, the conventional method has not been applied to these traffics. 95 percent of data flow use TCP/IP on Internet, TCP congestion control TCP is always an important problem, especially during recent network rapidly increasing. TCP congestion control & self-similar and LRD of network flow have been two hot research problems.This paper does some research on the theory of self-similar and LRD, and gain a method of generation of self-similar and LRD traffic, namely, the traffic is generated by using TV - Burst model of power tail distribution ON/OFF source. This paper use internationally universal simulation software NS-2 to do some simulations. Then, some performance analysis of TCP is done based on these traffics. At last, I do some improvement on TCP congestion control, which result to accord with this new network characteristic and improve network performance.
