Web-Based Subject/Project-oriented Collaborative Information Service Platforms

In current network information environment, the single and one-person oriented service manner provided by those gateway websites are unable to fulfill the requirement of subject/project oriented information. How to provide a way for the group to communicate and cooperate on the network is a new trend of network information service. This thesis is rightly trying to discuss on this issue.The thesis consists of four chapters. Chapter One discusses the subject/project-oriented collaborative information service platforms and modern information service. By analyzing the limitation of current systems, the writer investigates the group-oriented information platform and proposes that the subject/project-oriented collaborative information service platform is an effective way to support the information communication and cooperation. Then the aim and model of this platform are described.In Chapter Two, the thesis discusses the mechanism of the subject/project-oriented collaborative information service platform-CSCW. After introducing the definition, classification, and working model of CSCW, the writer attaches the emphasis to the hiberarchy and supporting techniques of the system, such as awareness, concurrency control and interaction, etc. Then the thesis gives some successful instances of CSCW system.In Chapter Three, function frame of a subject/project-oriented collaborative information service system based on WEB is put forward. It includes the membership application, application for new workspace, paper retrieval, paper edition, information upload, resource listing and discussing panel, etc. This function frame provides a collaborative support for the distance cooperation on WEB.Based on the above-discussed theory, the writer, cooperating with the library of the South West University of Finance and Economy, has developed a subject/project-oriented collaborative information service platform. In Chapter Four, the thesis gives a detailed elaboration on function structure and realization condition of this system, and then evaluates the system.Finally, the thesis looks forward to the future trend of the subject/project-oriented collaborative information service platform.
