Genesis is a manufacturing system that allows users to automate data collection, shop floor processes, and statistical processes. These systems are currently used in Motorola Semiconductor Products Sector (SPS) manufacturing environments. There are many new features of the upgraded version include the improved Graphical User Interface (GUI), a three-tier architecture, web access to some Genesis data, the ability to use multiple platforms (AIX, HP and NT) to house the system, and integrated system administrator tools. This dissertation focuses on user testing of the Genesis new version, especially the development of the performance-testing tool and the test script. In chapter one, we introduced Genesis upgrade project's background and contents. In chapter two, we discussed the modern software testing theories and techniques. In chapter three, we introduced user testing of the Genesis system. In chapter four, we described the development of the relevant performance-testing tool. And in the last chapter, we concluded the experience of user testing for most of information systems.
