With the development of the technology of computer network and database, the mode of traditional tax collection has been gradually changed, so the tax collection and query by Internet has been a trend. Basing on working mode of POS, the system of long-distance tax collection has been designed and realized.Most of POS's control centers are embedded system of microchip. That's to say, a significant part of work is to set up a network with embedded system and realize the long-distance data transmission by Internet.The connection between the embedded device and Internet must be according to the criterions of TCP/IP protocols, but the embedded device can't support TCP/IP protocols and its resources are limited. After knowing of the various solutions to realize the network of the embedded system, and considering the characteristic of singlechip system, the thesis investigates a new solution: embedded TCP/IP protocols. The solution is designed for application. After analyzing the TCP/IP protocols deeply, the TCP/IP protocols have been reasonably simplified, which can be embedded into singlechip with limited internal resources. Thus, the POS can realize the long-distance data transmission by E-mail.Through describing the TCP/IP protocols, the interrelated protocols, on which E-mail transmission of singlechip system is based, have been analyzed and selected. In the software design, the thesis introduces the simplification and design of some protocols, including ARP protocol, IP protocol, ICMP protocol, TCP protocol and SMTP protocol. At the same time, the thesis puts forward a part of flow diagram and program.
