By deeply studying the production process and technical condition of Trimellitic Anhydride, a control system is developed, it based on the Advantech IPC, ADAM4000/5000 I/O modules, and the industrial controlling configuration software Intellution Fix 7.0. This system has the basic functions such as I/O hardware set, database management, alarm and safety interlock. The online Monitoring and controlling of the production process are implemented.Because the reaction process of Trimellitic Anhydride has the characters of the large time constant, pure -lag, the difficulty control in reaction temperature, and the special constraint on air flow, the traditional PID control method does not meet the quality requirement. The self -adaptive PID control based on single neurons control algorithm is proposed. Simulation results show that it has strong robustness, the better trackability and little impact by environment. So, it is clear that the self-adaptive PID control based on single neurons has advantage over the traditional PID control algorithm and has a bright prospect.
