The Liquid Crystal Display(LCD) takes the lead in the display market and is always enlarging its application fields for its characteristics of low work voltage,low power,good display effect,easy to be integrated and legerity. It is widely used in electronic products and equipment such as cellphone,PDA and carry-home instruments. To develop and realize the repeatable,smart panel and high integration of the LCD control IC is the key step to prevail the LCD. As the interface of LCD driver and LCD control IC, the display interface module determines the ultimate quality and effect of the display figure. Therefore, the display interface module is the core part in the LCD display system. In this thesis, a novel display interface module which can support multi-panel and get highly vivid display figures is designed. To design and realize the module, my main work includes the aspects as follow: Firstly, the system structure of LCD control IC is analyzed ,the functions of each module described ,the methods,techniques and flow of the integrate circuit design are introduced; The color quantification, pattern dithering,error diffusion dithering and frame rate control in gray scale/color buildup are researched and discussed. What's more, the error diffusion and frame rate control technique are also improved; Then, The color look-up table,pattern dithering,error diffusion dithering and frame rate control are realized with hardware; After that, the interface logic module and extended panels timing control module is designed. Finally, the display interface module is verified by software and FPGA. The verification results prove that display interface module works well and reach our expectation.
