The subject stems from "Panel adjustment of antenna reflector" which is a part of National Defense Basic Scientific Research Project - "General design platform for radar antenna". With the swift development of such undertakings as satellite communication and space exploration, some large precise reflector antennas are used broadly in many different fields. The surface precision is one of the main technique standards for reflector antennas, which influences the electric performance of antennas directly. In order to guarantee the surface precision, traditionally the assembly technician adjusted the position of reflector panels manually according to their experience. The disadvantages of the method are too many adjustment times, lower efficiency and accuracy, and scarcity of theorization and high-speed. Especially the more panels are used and the higher precision is required, the more serious the problems mentioned above are.In this paper, the issues about precision adjustment of reflector antennas mentioned above are studied theoretically and innovated technically. After the analysis on the mechanism of panel alignment and adjustment, the method to panel adjustment is gave. Combined with the Conjugation-Gradient-Algorithm for Multi-vector Unconstrained Optimization, the method for calculating panel adjustment values is deduced. Based on such a method, a sort of software system is developed for the alignment and adjustment of large antenna to guide the practical work. The software has such three main functions as: data preparation, precision and adjustment quantity calculation and results looking up. At the same time, a simulation program is developed to test the availability of algorithm and software. The software developed can improve the efficiency and accuracy of the alignment and adjustment of antenna panels. It should have a potential application prospect in engineering fields.
