Sensometworks is a newly rising field to research. It's middleware has some characteristics like self-adaptiveness, cooperation, self-organization. Traditional ITS is lack of distributive cooperation and adaptive evolvement, besides it has not precise way to collect information of traffic flow. At the same time, sensor system of sensometworks is as alike as traffic flow inspecting system in hardware, so, the combination of ITS and sensometworks will bring large affection to city's transportation management.The article first describes some problems existed in current ITS, then explain the research status of domestic and overseas. After that, talk over the feasibility of sensometworks theory applied in ITS, and conclude that sensometworks is an effective way to result above problems.About the technical detail concerned with sensometworks, we has emphasis two aspects: sensometworks middleware and sensor system. In sensometworks middleware, a lot of current middleware are compared, and evolutive figure of middleware is showed. In sensometworks, discussion is divided into two parts, one is wire sensor system, like winding, and another is wireless sensor system, like GSM/GPRS/CDMA, WLAN, bluetooth, RFID. All these ways are compared. A architecture is designed base on those comparison, the mainframe of it is composed of Jini sensometworks and RFID sensor system.Finally, an implementation of the transportation management integrated system based on sensometworks has been done. It include two products: data collecting platform, RFID sensor system, and two old subsystems: DaLian transportation rapid reaction system, traffic flow prediction. Through practical run, it has been proved that the data collecting platform based on sensometworks has arrive the target in self-organization, self-adaptiveness, self-repair. Every system is alone to each other and are also connected with each other. Furthermore, new subsystems and old subsystems are combined best and there is not any cooperation problem.
