The mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is a temporary network that fixed basic station and centralized management is not needed. The nodes in the MANET have wireless network interface and can move freely, form a dynamically changing network topology. Because of the restriction of wireless network interface, one or many moving nodes are needed to set up route. Nodes in the MANET move without rule make routing arithmetic and QoS guarantee etc face new difficulty. It is important to select appropriate network topology architecture and route protocol according to network scale of appliance and expansibility, reliability of appliance and request of real time, to exert capability of network mostly. Moreover, network topology architecture and route arithmetic are tightly correlated, and must be integrally considered.The architecture of grade in network gives a kind of efficient way for these difficulties. More and more ad hoc networks apply architecture of grade. This paper analyzes and compares many traditional clustering algorithms. A weight-based clustering algorithm in mobile ad hoc wireless network is given and proved validity through simulating. The weight-based clustering algorithms of MANET are widely accepted for its flexible and adaptable nature. But the discussion of related weight factors is limited. The weight factors of weight-based clustering algorithm are researched in MANET. Several situations effecting weight factors are given. An approach calculating weight factors is proposed and is validated with instances.A new role-separating network mode is given on the basis of deep study on MANET cell mobile communication technology and traditional fixed equipment network. The roles of cluster head and gateway are separated from mobile node's role, and a new cluster head's moving mode- following mode-is given. At last, the simulation mode is established. The capability of the role separating network is tested and gets better result.
