With the development of the scale of the mobile communication network and the increasing of the number of network resources, the requirement of network management is increasing, too. To build a mobile communication network management system with strong function, dependable performance, great efficiency, is more and more important. Configuration Management is the most important module among the network management. In this article, how to design and implement a Configuration Management System of mobile communication network management is discussed.Firstly, the main content of TMN (Telecommunications Management Network) is summarized. After that, we discussed how to design a Configuration Management system based on TMN. The system is based on CORBA and multi-layer Client/Server architecture. It is mainly divided into three parts: Client subsystem, Service Server subsystem and Mediation subsystem. Client subsystem is the interface to user. It is also called GUI subsystem. GUI subsystem is the only entrance of the user operation. Service Server subsystem provides the implements of all the user function of this system. It is the core of the service in the system. It also manages the operation of the database system. Service Server subsystem and Client subsystem communicate through CORBA. Mediation subsystem is a middleware between Service Server and NE (Network Element) . It is used to unify the interfaces of different NEs. It makes the Service Server call the same method to configure different NEs. Mediation subsystem and Service Server subsystem communicate through CORBA, too.There are two emphases in this article:1. Using Mobile Agent to design the Network Configuration Management system. When EMS (Network Element Management System) communicates with NEs, we use Mobile Agent to change the necessary information. Different type of Mobile Agent can play different role in communication. Firstly, the model and the work flow of the Mobile Agent are summarized. Then discuss how to use Mobile Agent to design the system and how it works. Finally, comparing tow models, Mobile Agent and Manager/Agent, analyze the advantage of Mobile Agent.2. HML (Human-Machine Language) . HML is a protocol which is defined by system developers and NE developers. It is used to implement the communication between EMS and NEs. Otherwise, because HML is defined secretly, the security of the system will be improved by using it. The idea and the method of HML design arediscussed, and the implementation of HML is clarified in chapter 5.Being a kind of middleware, Mobile Middleware is clarified in this article, too. Both the definition and the application of middleware and the related content of Mobile Middleware are discussed. Finally, show the architecture of the distributed application based on Mobile Middleware. In addition, some other related skills are also summarized in this article, such as XML and ACE.
