Research On Learner's Profile In Intelligent Tutoring System

With the rapid developing of modern information technology and spreading of World Wide Web, many countries pay attention to Web-based distance education as an important field of the application of information technology in the world. Now web-based distance education is the development current of distance education. Compared with traditional education Web-based distance education has many advantages. Learners can finish bidirectional mutual teaching activity at any moment and everywhere and share in excellent education resources. Distance education can improve interest of learners and make education for life in a popular style. However, web-based distance education has many shortages. A prominent shortage is the simplex teaching mode. Learners with different character only can receive completely same content on web-based distance education. Web-based distance education neglects need of learners and learner profile. Teachers and learners in web-based distance education have less face-to-face intercommunion than in traditional education. It is hard for teachers to gain learns' status timely and teach students in accordance of their aptitude. Researchers adopt intelligent tutoring system to resolve this problem. Intelligent tutoring system makes computer more intelligent. Computer can act as teachers to tutor and help learners according to the character of learners. This article discusses the history and the present situation of analyzing learner profile and gives a mode of analyzing learner profile and realizes the mode. The mode of analyzing learner profile adopts data mining and web mining to obtain personal profile and common profile and learn preparative, studying style and so on. Finally, we make a conclusion of the article and point out what to do in the future.
