Research And Development On PC BIOS Of Future Generation

The development of personal computer has already passed more than 20 years. Although the processor, mainboard and the upper level software such as operating system all change greatly, the firmware code of computer - BIOS almost has no change for so long a tme and still remains many drawbacks. The end of BIOS is unavoidable, the future generation of BIOS will be faster and more convenient. The substituent of traditional BIOS has already been invented abroad for a long time, for instance EFI of Intel, FirstBIOS of Phoenix.However, it seems that people in China still do not know the urgency of the market and technology. The research work of development in BIOS lags behind abroad very much. With the development of technology, BIOS needs to be improved to meet the growing demand of computer users. Therefore, we designed and developed a brand-new BIOS system - MiniBIOS to replace the traditional BIOS.The thesis has proposed a more excellent and efficient solution of the next generation of BIOS, and has discussed the key technology points around the BIOS development.
