Research And Implement Of Reed-Solomon Codes In Atmosphere Communication System

Atmosphere Laser Communication (ALC) refers to the technology of transmitting voice, data and graphics using laser bean. Because of its advantage of narrow transmition bean, small attena size, broad information capability and high performance to price, it impressed many people in communication area. So it has good application foreground in desolve of "The Last Kilometer Problem" and emergence communication. But in laser communication channel, because of being affected by many factors such as fog, rain, snow and atmosphere onflow, the signal's pulse is widen, the S/N is fall and the error codes increases. So, it directly affects communication capability that we adopt the channel coding technology.We choose Reed-Solomon code as channel code method according to the characteristic of PPM channel of ALC. RS code is a kind of MDS code, that is to say: it is the best (n,k) code providing n and k. It has the ability of correct sudden error and radom error and is wide used in data communication and data memory. From the experimentation we can summarize that using M elements RS code in M elements PPM communication systems, they can match properly and it can decrease the system's error code rate.This paper introduces ALC system and is development firstly, then, study several method of error control codes especially RS code. Lastly, it discusses the implementation method of RS(15,9) code.It developed the method of inter-formula iterating in the course of discussing hardware implementation of RS code. It adapted the algorithm of "pipelining" in the design of decoding system which increases the decoding rapid mostly. It choose the method of "module design" that we can easly change some small aspects if we want to develop another RS systems.
