| As the improvement of modern technology, the development of building automatic control system can be divided into a series of different stages. In 1991, LonWorks fieldbus was presented by Echelon Corporation and quickly gained great popularity in field control systems. According to its open interoperable characteristics and its capability to supply multi-transfer media and multi-network topology structures, LonWorks fieldbus has become the default industry standard in the field of building automatic control system. Because of the limited number of the LonMaker credits, using LonMaker network management tool shall greatly increase the user's cost. Then how to reduce the cost of LonWorks networks configuration and maintenance is a crucial point for our building integration engineering, and this is precisely one of the aims of this paper. A low cost LonWorks network management tool is proposed in this paper based on the LNS operating system. Our experiments show that this advanced tool can reduce the cost of configuration and maintenance remarkably. In the chapter I, the development process of building automatic control system and the basic knowledge of LonWorks network management tool now used are outlined as the fundamental information of this paper. Then the theory and the developing method of LonWorks network devices are described along with the LonTalk protocol, which is the special rule abided by LonWorks network. In the third chapter, the characteristics of the LNS operation system, its windows programmed framework and its effects to develop network management tool of each part of LNS are described in detail. Then the utilities of the whole network management tool are designed, and the function and the software flow chart of each module are discussed. Finally, the design of each module interface is illustrated particularly in the visual basic programmer circumstance and the operation method of the LonWorks management tool based on LNS is also given.
