On the basis of CAN bus and USB bus technical, the reality of CAN-USB bus interconnection technology and implementation method have been studied and A CAN-USB adapter has been designed. This adapter can collect the information of each node of CAN bus and transmit it to the host computer. It can transmit the order and data from host computer to each node of the CAN bus. It can control every node of the CAN bus. It has some merits such as high performance-cost ratio, strong anti-interference ability, quick transmission speed. Used in reality, this adapter can improve the integrated level of control system in industry obviously.CSMA/CA (Carrier-Sense Multiple Access with Collision Detection and Arbitration on Message priorities) communication agreement has been used in CAN bus. When a lot of nodes send the data at the same time, the CAN bus arbitrate the message by the PRI of the identifier. The data from the node of high PRI can continue transmitting, but the real-time character of the low PRI node is unable to be guaranteed. Because mostly the data in practical application are periodic, the algorithm of TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access) has been used in the adapter. The data transmission of the whole network has been managed by the application layer. So the real-time character of data transmission, especially the periodic data transmission, has been improved.
