The development of Cantonese news depends not only on its own characteristics of communication but on the social culture, policy and market. Cantonese news is now impacted by the trend of news as amusement (news written or produced in a popular style to amuse audience) worldwide, but too much of this can do harm to the Cantonese news. Also, the problem of limitations of Cantonese news itself should be solved. The thesis tries to explain and assay the problems integrating theory with practice and give alternatives.Cantonese news media are now positively broadening their scope. The Cantonese news media in China's mainland are trying to be international and have worldwide influence; the Cantonese news media in Hong Kong continue holding a safe lead, and seizing "the first right of explaining the news and events that have happened in Guangdong"; the Cantonese news media abroad, which are focusing on the new migrants, are developing quickly. Cantonese news has greater and greater influence in the world.
