Application Of Information Filtering To Digital Library

Internet information resources are rich and colorful, but the good and bad are intermingled. The digital library basing on the digital and network information should alter the modes of traditional information services to adapt the information filtering technology for meeting the users'personalized information requirement in the user-centered information age. Information filtering means to filter the irrelevant information in the dynamic information resources, then push the results to users on the relevance. The purpose of information filtering is to satisfy the dynamic personalized information needs of users. It is necessary that the application of information filtering to digital library. This paper includes the summary of information filtering, the introduction of information filtering systems of domestic and foreign countries, then the analysis of information filtering technology and its application of digital library in the personalized information services. Among of these contents, user model is the basis and core of the whole information flow. The ontology-based user model applied to digital library can provide the initiative personalized information service for users. User model is the core of this paper, meanwhile it is the innovation. Furthermore, it is mentioned that the main bottlenecks of information filtering algorithm, then two methods are put forward to improve them.
