Application Of Data Mining Technology In Educational Decision Support System

This paper addresses the basic theory of DM technology and EDSS, then according to the phenomena that the application of DM in EDSS rarely, the recent data of Educational Technology Major in ZJNU are analyzed with SPSS technology, some information and knowledge are mined, and some education phenomena are discovered, which support to educational decision-making. Based on these research, I put forward a model of EDSS which is adapt to ZJNU, then Bayesware Discoverer technology is introduced into educational walks to realize the supports of educational decision-making.There are six sections: First the paper summarizes the current development of the DM and EDSS, and the application of DM in EDSS. In chapter one, it generally states the basic concepts of DM technology and the types, process, tools, methods of DM; also deeply states the analytical methods based on statistics. In chapter two, it addresses educational decision types, educational decision process, characteristics of educational decision and educational system, concepts and structure of EDSS, also analyses the integration and design of EDSS. Then it gives the model of EDSS which is being applied in educational system with DM technology. In chapter three, it states the applications of DM technology based on statistics during the educational management and educational decision-making. The process explains the cleaning up, transform, integration and mining of educational data, expression of result. DM of educational data realizes knowledge discovery and educational decision-making, which provides theory and practice supports for educational decision-making with Bayesware Discoverer.
