The product design is the core and soul of the manufacturing industry. The existence of Internet makes the enterprises span the space margin between them, and based on the Internet the cooperation in product design and manufacturing are realized. The relies of Knowledge-Representation, Data-Exchange, Collaborative-Process of the product design on the Internet have increased steadily. The diversity of design task makes the design process more and more complex, and the mass sub-designs included in the process mainly inherit and reuse the industry knowledge and the previous progeny. But the effective representation and the semantic description of the reusable sub-designs are lacked in current complex product design process, which result in the less-sharing of the design knowledge and influence the design efficiency.This article aims at the actual product design and manufacturing, and has a research on the reuse problem of design process. We study the logical construction of the complex design first, which can make the complex design and the sub-designs be represented more effective. We discuss the processing method of the design flow in the design process in sequence. All the research can make the design process be combined and reused more flexible, and the person can refer to and reuse the existing design process and progeny rapidly. The productive efficiency and competition ability of the enterprise are raised.The Semantic Web has been proposed as the next generation of the Internet. It emphases on the information representation can be comprehended and processed on the Internet by the computer. Then this article studies the Semantic Web on some application of Product Design. The shared conceptualization among the enterprises will be build too, and the co-operability and intellectualized-degree of the design process could be raised.The main work and contribution include:1. The representation and processing algorithm of the design process in the complex design are proposed.The design process is based on the logical structure of the complex design, and each element of the process is defined as node. The nodes are divided into five categories: begin node, end node, common node, join node and split node, and each type of node is different in trigger condition, executing, etc.2. A framework about the product configuration design based on the domain ontology model is proposed.First, we use OWL to describe the important conceptions in the configuration design process, such as Class, Instance, Port, Restriction, etc. Then, we propose the whole framework, in which the inference procedure is realized.3. We proposed a realization of the mechanism product CAD platform. Using the platform, the person can manage the product design processeffectively. XML is used to support the Data-Exchange during the designprocess, Solid Edge is used as a tool to generate part model, and we useC# as a programming tool to control XML and Solid Edge to realize the wholeframework.
