Distributed Virtual Environment (DVE) provides a virtual reality spaces that enable participants to collaborate and share objects, people will have a strong feeling of be immersed in it, become the "hot pot" of research. This technology has been applied in many aspects broadly, such as game, military combat simulations, open society.The technology of DVR is mainly used in systems of small scales participants. To systems of large scales participants, it cannot run smoothly or make the communication difficulty because of big loads of net communication, great number of information to compute and big difference between participants.Three solutions are been brought forward to this problem in this thesis in system such as virtual society that don't need user to communication with all users, they will be seen below.1) A method of dynamic area of interest management is been used in application level for use to communicate. Think of the create difference in capability between the users and the change of density of participants in virtual environment, a new method of dynamic area of interest management is been brought forward. It make everyone manage the area of interest himself, with the adjust the magnitude of AOI, it can manage the number of users in the VE. With the use of initiative interest register and management of monitor, the system adjusts communication load, and get an effect of "get work by the ability". An analysis is been made on the change which is brought by the use of dynamic area of interest management, and a solution is been brought out in this thesis.2) To reduce the data communication we deal with the running data of user in VE in this thesis, and for the sake of keep the coherence between user data, DR arithmetic and technology of lag control is been used and take the affect of the running velocity to data transmission into account in this system.3) When transmit data, ways of create model storeroom and transmit data by XML are brought forward in this thesis. To objects have similar character, we create model storeroom. To design object and transmit object only have to deal the parameter, it can reduce the data transmission. To a VR system of VRML, because of the limits of it's fixed syntax structure and the unexpansibility of it's content and structure, we put all messages into XML file to transmit the file.In this thesis, we design a virtual society system have many participants with the methods above, and test the system capability by simulation.
