It is the most advanced computer control technology of the time, which is composed of computer technology, network technology and control technology nowadays. This paper mainly introduce the systematic configuration, composition and technological characlcristic of Profibus control system which is popular in industrial process control field, and give a demonstration of application in the power plant field to describe performance, specialty and superiority of this fieldbus. Further more this paper discuss and study the particular in several aspect of the application in this field, and emphatically the difference between fieldbus control system and other traditionary control systems finally. The FCS is the direction of advance for decades in automatic control. At the present time the disparity between domestic and international of development and application of FCS is not obvious.
