With the popularization of mobile equipment and rapid development of mobile communication technology, the demand for mobile collaboration is rising. Researches of mobile collaboration have become a hot point of mobile computing field. As the practical technology of mobile collaboration in cellular network develops, mobile collaboration in MANET starts to be researched.It's important to have an efficient practical design method and a performance analysis technology for design of modern communication network. Simulation platform is one of the most powerful tools for analysis of network performance, evaluation of network design, and diagnosis of network exceptions. The network protocols and other technologies of MANET, which is a new network type, are still in research. The validation of the efficiency of these protocols and technologies is based on simulation platform. There are two kinds of simulation platforms now. One is based on the actual mobile nodes and network test bed. The other is network simulation software. These two kinds of simulation platforms don't have the ability of describe mobile collaboration environment now, so they can't efficiently help research technologies of mobile collaboration.In this thesis, a study of characteristics of hierarchical mobile collaboration in large mobile ad hoc network is been done based on the existent researches of mobile collaboration. A simulation platform based on NS-2 (Network Simulator version 2) that has the ability of describing mobile collaboration is also proposed in this thesis.The contributions of this thesis mainly include the following three parts:Firstly, this thesis studies the main points of hierarchical mobile collaboration, including the hierarchical collaborative relations between nodes, group mobility of nodes that have hierarchical collaborative relations, and the communication localization decided by collaboration. Based on this analysis, a hierarchical mobile collaboration-oriented simulation platform, MANSE (MANet Simulation Environment), is been proposed.Secondly, this thesis implements the modules of MANSE based on NS-2. This work includes implementation of group mobility module, design and implementation of communication pattern that has characteristics of mobile collaboration, and definition of interface standardization between cluster algorithms and hierarchical routing protocols. The first two parts can be merged as scenario builder module.Last, this thesis simulates CBRP (Cluster Based Routing Protocol) on MANSE and evaluates its performance. This thesis analyses the difference of CBRP performance in betweenhierarchical mobile collaboration environment and random environment. And the impact that the speed of nodes and the overload of network communications have on the performance of CBRP is studied. All results prove the efficiency of MANSE.Researches of mobile collaboration in MANET should be based on the environment that has characteristics of mobile collaboration. The simulation platform MANSE proposed in this thesis has the ability of describing mobile collaboration and so has significant meaning to researches of mobile collaboration.
