This paper is accomplished with the guidance and help from Professor Feng Xinghua. Adopting bibliographic retrieval, what are introduced in this paper are the clinical applications as well as the experimental studies in treating rheumatic diseases by remedying yin deficiency. Part from that, this paper also expounded Professor Feng Xinghua’s clinic practice experiences of remedying yin deficiency in curing rheumatic diseases. And in this paper, the kinds of rheumatic diseases I mainly focused on are SLE, pSS, AOSD, DM/PM, CTD-ILD, and what I want to expound contained in the following three parts.First is the literature review chapter, in this part, I searched the CNKI, VIP, PHMC, PubMed, in knowing that remedying yin deficiency is widely used by other TCM doctors in treating rheumatic diseases. The clinical applications and the experimental studies all showed that remedying yin deficiency by using herbs is an efficacious way in curing rheumatic diseases. It is proved that by remedying yin deficiency in rheumatic patients, the immune system is reinforced. Besides, it can also help controlling patients’inflammation, and alleviates symptoms by reducing the emission of cytokines. However, there are not many essays reported in researching the mechanism of how does it work. This is what needed to be supplemented. The second part illustrates Professor Feng Xinghua’s comprehension of yin, yin deficiency, and the methods of remedying yin deficiency. Professor Feng Xinghua is a skilled and well-known traditional Chinese medicine doctor, who read lots of TCM books, and is very good at traditional Chinese medicine. In the meanwhile he is also the one who knows modern medicine well.In TCM, the stuffs our body contained can separate into two aspects, yin and yang. Yin is usually referred to body liquid such as blood, sudor, tear, saliva, etc and the refined nutritious substances stored in the viscera especially the five internal vital organs:lung, liver, spleen, kidney and heart. As the five internal organs contain the refined nutritious substances, which is important to our lives, it’s significant to make sure that the refined nutritious substances are rich in those. However, whenever we are alive, that’s an impossible task, these substances are wearing day by day. Professor Feng Xinghua addressed that defatigation, stay up late, eat inappropriately are the common causes of yin deficiency inside, while, the cold, moist, hot, windy weather are the causes outside. Chronic diseases are the other aspects that usually caused Yin deficiency. What’s more, yin deficiency is the most common symptom in the later stage of many rheumatic diseases. Professor Feng Xinghua thinks that yin deficiency can appeared in many ways, such as the shortage of blood, sudor, tear, saliva and so on. And the yin deficiency happened in the organs are more frequent and severe. In clinic practice, Professor Feng Xinghua usually combines the method of remedying yin deficiency with other treatments, for example the method of heat-clearing and detoxifying, activating blood circulation, etc. This is because in his experience, the reasons causing rheumatic diseases are complex and the symptoms are various. Thus, the treatments should transformed accordingly. The third part is about Professor Feng Xinghua’s experience of clinic practice in curing rheumatic diseases by using the method of remedying yin deficiency. The experience is illustrated with five kinds of rheumatic diseases, which concludes the treatments, pathogeny analysis, and typical efficacious cases. This part also introduces the frequent-used Chinese medical formulae and herbs in Professor Feng Xinghua’s clinic practice.
