Clinical Observation On Treatment Of Depression Of Liver - Qi Stagnation With Acupuncture Combined With

Purpose:This topic was a randomized control trial designed to treat the depression caused by liver Qi stagnation using acupuncture and oral Traditional Chinese Medicine; and to compare and analyze its therapeutic effect and the side effects with oral antidepressant mirtazapine.Material and method:Total 60 patients of Liver Qi stagnation were collected from The Affiliated Hospital of Liaoning university of Traditional Chinese medicine Outpatient Department, Encephalopathy-K2 and were randomly divided using computer randomization method into two groups; treatment group using acupuncture and Chinese herbs and control group using western medicine. The treatment group was treated using acupuncture(Baihui, Sishencong,Yintang, Danzhong, Neiguan, Shenmen, Sanyinjiao, Taichong)and chinese medicine Neifu Baoshen Tang. Acupuncture was given once a day, and five days per week(rest in the weekends).And the Chinese medicine Neifu Baoshen Tang was given twice a day. The control group was treated using western medicine oral mirtazapine 30mg/day. Both the groups were treated for 8 weeks. Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD) and modified version of antidepressant TRSS(SERS) was used respectively to evaluate the curative effect and side effects of the treatment.Results: 1. The difference between the HAMD score before and after the treatment in both the group(acupuncture combined with Chinese medicine group and western medicine group) was statistically significant(P<0.05), the two groups showed that the treatment of liver qi stagnation type of depression are effective. But the HAMD score between the two groups, after the treatment was not statistically significant(P> 0.05), the efficacy of the two groups showed considerable. 2. After eight weeks of treatment, the SERS score compared within two groups was statistically significant(P<0.05),describes the treatment of acupuncture combined with Chinese Herbs in depression caused by Liver Qi stagnation has lower side effects than oral mirtazapine treatment.3. The total effective rate was 76.6% in acupuncture and Chinese medicine group, and 70.00% in western medicine group. Comparison of the clinical efficacy of the two groups, the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05), described both the groups are equally effective.Conclusion: 1. Acupuncture combined with Baoshen Tang treatment of depression caused by Liver Qi stagnation showed a significant effect on the HAMD reduction rate. 2. Acupuncture combined with Baoshen Tang and oral antidepressant Mirtazapine both have almost equal in the HAMD reduction rate and the efficacy rate in the treatment of depression caused by Liver Qi stagnation. 3. Acupuncture combined with Baoshen Tang treatment of depression caused by Liver Qi stagnation is better than oral antidepressant mirtazapine in reducing SERS rates, and in reducing adverse drug responses.
