Objective:We observe the anti fatigue effect of different colors of Maca in mice to compare nutrients and functional components of maca from different areas, and further, to evaluate the health benefits of introducting Maca, and to provide basis for research on development of health food and its unique functional components study provides experimental basis.Methods:(1) Used Calory Answer, content of protein, fat, carbohydrate in dried Maca were analyzed; total alkaloids in Maca by adid dye colorimetry; using HPLC, to analyze two macamides in Maca.(2) Used SPF 4-week-old male mice experimental subjects, orally taken different doses of Maca decoction of different colors from different areas for 30 consecutive days, and upon the last time,30min after which, mices were given the swimming test, recorded Mice-Exhaustive-Swimming-time, determined the content of hepatic glycogen, muscle glycogen, and serum urea nitrogen. These indexes were selected as index to evaluation of performance metrics of mice, reflacting the anti-fatigue function of Maca. SPSS 19.0 software was adopted to analyze the variance of the experimental data.Results:(1) Maca root protein content in 20.000~24.567 g/100g; fat 5.8~9.967 g/100g; carbohydrate 24.467~28.767 g/100g; total alkaloids 1.59~2.13 mg/g; N-Benzyl Hexadecanamide 0.282~0.778 mg/g; N-Benzyl Heptadecan amide 0.071~0.202 mg/g.(2) The decoction of Yunnan Maca with yellow, purple and black presented prolonged the exhaustive swimming time of mice (P<0.01). Yunnan Yellow Maca producing low, middle and high dose group (0.4,0.8,1.2g/kg.BW) both can increase fatigue mice liver and muscle glycogen content, serum urea nitrogen content reduced (P<0.01). Domestic Maca group liver and muscle glycogen contents were higher than control group (P<0.01), the blood urea nitrogen content were lower than control group (P<0.01).(3) In the anti-fatigue test, the anti-fatigue index, the content of liver glycogen and muscle glycogen showed a first increased and then decreased trend with rising the content of functional ingredients.This suggest that the dose effect relationship between the two anti-fatigue indexes and the amounts of functional ingredients; and the same trend to content of serum urea nitrogen.Conclusion:(1) The functional ingredients (total alkaloid content, Maca amide content) in Yunnan Maca showed a increasing as the color turns deeper, that is, yellow < purple < black.(2) The decoction of Yunnan Maca in yellow, purple and black and Qinghai Maca in yellow all could significantly prolong Mice-Exhaustive-Swimming-time, increase liver glycose and muscel glycose storage capacity, decrease blood urea nitrogen. Maca decoction could alleviate physical fatigue in mice. Different areas of the domestic Maca:Yunnan yellow Maca group in anti-fatigue effect than Qinghai yellow Maca may have a slight edge.(3) Relieve physical fatigue and functional components of Maca and the dosage of Maca may have correlation. With the increasing of Maca dose effecf function, first increased and then decreased. In addition, Maca contained in the effect of total alkaloids and Maca amide content and function have the same performance.
