Grace note, one of the artistic expressions of violin, plays a vital role in violin performance.From the middle ages to the classical period, grace note had already been relatively perfect.Mozart being a great German musician in the classical period, a set of his violin concerto hasalways been universally recognized as a classical concerto, in which the application of grace notesnot only demonstrates Mozart’s unique music style and connotation, but also holds an importantposition in the history of grace notes.Firstly, this paper sketches Mozart’s life and main works; next, the paper probes into gracenote’s definition, history and its development over the classical period. Then, it chooses the fifthviolin concerto, the most representative violin work of Mozart, and analyzes grace notes andconnotation of the work by combining melody features. Finally, the paper explores Mozart’sperformance features of grace note and its influencing factors, which further emphasizes that apartfrom decoration, applying grace note in musical compositions is also a way to convey composers’feelings.
