This thesis mainly studies the background and content features of看羊录』,『锦溪日记』and『月峰海上录』——t hree typical works of experiential literat ure during the Imjin War period. While the second part of this paper investigate s its background and characteristics of content, general characteristics and value of experiential literature by captives of the Imjin War are discussed and research ed in the the third and fourth part.The general characteristics of the literature is mainly reflected in four aspects. Firstly, Jianghang, Luren, Zheng Xideng as scholarly bureaucracy, who were born in Hunan, expressed the common themes of loyalty and patriotism. Secondly, b ased on the documentary elements in works, the common narrative style of the1iterature is blended with documentary writing. Thirdly, the writers used Chinese Poetry as the main lyric way to express sadness and patriotic feeling. Fourthly, t he language feature of the literature is plain and perceptual.The experiential literature by captives bear historical value, cultural value and literary value. Frist of all, as a true recording of the Imjin War and prisoners’li fe, the experiential literature has important historical value. Secondly, the writers recorded cultures and social customs of Japan and China and attached cultural value to the works. Thirdly, the literature is endowed with recording writing and Luren recorded『锦溪日记』embodied contents about scholars of two countries on the interpretation of literary classics.
