Matsumoto Rjiro (1866-1945) is the representative in the history of Chinesepeople study in Japan and the only Japanese person who is in the first phase ofmoving together learning Japanese language. He dedicated himself for the educationof Japanese language to Chinese people for a life-long time. He taught in KobunInstitute, Thammasat University and East Asia College Preparatory School, and madea significant contribution in the field of Japanese language education. Many peoplesuch as Lu Xun and Zhou Enlai who promoted China’s modernization process are hisstudents.The background of this thesis is from1866to1945, which was Matsumoto Rjirolifetime span. The research object is the Japanese language education of MatsumotoRjiro and the abroad students from China. Matsumoto Rjiro’s book China TravelsFifty Days and The Review and Future of neighbors students’ education as the mainfirsthand data. The thesis ensures the situation of Matsumoto Rjiro during the Meijiperiod, Taisho Period and Showa period, explores the relationship betweenMatsumoto Rjiro and his Chinese students, and discusses his Chinese understandingas well as the position he date in the history of communication further, Using theempirical method and literature analysis method.Based on the previous research, the conclusion has three main points.1Matsumoto Rjiro devoted himself to Japanese language education to theChinese students during Meiji and Showa made great influence on Japanese languageeducation.2Matsumoto Rjiro cared for Chinese students greatly in the difficult situationthat the Sino-Japanese relation is serious.3Matsumoto Rjiro put forward his unique concept through the JapaneseEducation of Chinese students, The concept is suitable for the current relationbetween Chinese and Japanese as well.
