In Chinese history Tang Dynasty was another flourishing dynasty when China stepped intoa unified from the division. Tang’s prosperity was not only reflecting in economic and militaryterms,but also in the cultural prosperity, especially in the development of Confucianism breakingthe snacks of Wei and Jin Dynasty and showing a match with Tang Dynasty. At this time, theopenness of the Tang Dynasty and the two-way cultural exchange between the Tang andneighboring countries not only enriched the cultural connotation of Tang Dynasty, but alsopromoted the spread of Confucianism which produced a great deal of cultural centripetal force.When Japan was in a critical period of social change, through frequent dispatchingmessengers and students to learn Confucianism which dominating the advanced culture of theTang Dynasty, Japan began to political reform as the starting point for political,making thecontinued influence of Confucianism, such as education, morality, religion and other socialindividual aspects. But in the process of Confucianism,Japanese society adapted to thedevelopment characteristics of local culture and the feature of Japanese Confucianism was veryobvious.This article discussed the localization process of Tang Dynasty Confucianism in Japanfrom five major aspects. The first part is an introduction from the background,purpose andmeaning, current research,research methods and innovations to elaborate. The first part is thecharacteristics of Tang Dynasty Confucian. First, introduce the development of Confucianismbefore the Tang Dynasty which Confucianism at different stages of development shows differentcharacteristics from the beginning of the Pre-Qin until the prevalence of metaphysics in Wei andJin Dynasty; followed by the introduction of the characteristics of Tang DynastyConfucianism,Confucianism in the political and ideological orthodox had been furtherconsolidated, the scholar paid more attention on the word chapter,chapters and more emphasis onexegesis and Confucianism,Buddhism,Taoism were side were carried out their duties in politicallife by three religions side by side statecraft. The third part is Confucianism introduced intoJapan.The emphasis focuses on defining the incoming time in Japan, the way of Confucianisminto Japan and which role Confucianism played in all walks of life in Japan.The fourth is thefeature of ‘Confucianism’ in Japanese society that Japanese society is affected by theConfucianism.Prince Shotoku representatives to the restructuring of Japanese society marks thebeginning of Confucianism and Taika Reform makes contact by Confucianism and Japanesesociety.This is mainly in political system,ethics,culture,education,Shih Tien and so on.Byselecting,the local culture and Confucianism were integrate perfectly which showed the uniquecharacteristics of Japanese-system Confucianism.The fifth part is Confucianism with the characteristics Japanese society.The basic feature of Japanese Confucianism is imitation and lackof creativity.This performance is only providing ideas for the reform and can not have theoreticalcreation.Confucianism was tied to local church to achieve a variety of coexistenceintegration.Because of lacking of social tuning,the imperial examination system in Japan wasexcluded.The sixth part conclusion.It is the theoretical upgrade on the basis of this study bysummarizing the process of Tang Dynasty in Japan localization.
