The Austrian composer, Schubert, who is a representative figure of the early romanticism, enjoys high reputation in the field of art song. Meanwhile, his piano sonata also know to the world because of the beautiful singing, strong lyricism and rich fantasy.Piano Sonata in A major, Op.120, created in1819, was the representative of his interim works. It broke through the shackles of classical tonal harmony and strictly limitation of tonal distance relationship, and used multi-tone melody writing technique, which combine elements of folk song and dance, with the theme of the song a mellifluous assumes states, simple texture, color harmony and variation in composition technique, vividly depict the music image of the work. The entire work full of vigor and poetic flavor, leave us a impressive image with frank talk and beautiful singing. This work was divided into three movements, every movement is full of clear and joyful mood. The tonal of the work is catchy, and the dramatic conflicts between prominent did not exaggerated theme, but to express his personal feelings. This writing style is influenced by his art songs.This paper investigate the melody characteristic of Schubert piano sonata in A major, combined with the analysis of melody and rhythm, summarized and discussed the playing art which based on key-touching methods. The first chapter has introduced the general situation of Schubert and his sonata from the perspective of composer’s life, the creation of the sonata and the influence of Schubert art song on Schubert piano music creation. The second chapter has analyzed the structure, melody, rhythm of Piano Sonata in A major, Op.120, summarized the melody characteristic of this work. The third chapter has discussed how to properly use different playing method to reveal the rhythm of this work,which combined with different method of key-touching.
