The writing style of new essays in the90’s are full of freedom and inclusiveness.Because in most cases, their authors are poets.The strong poetry of new essay make itachieved some implication effects in contemporary writing.Yu Jian’s new prose ispoetic prose and he brings the fresh blood to contemporary prose writing.As ahometown poet, Yu Jian always perceives humanistic and daily care from hishometown.He writes changing times of old Kunming, trying to find pure and constantthings. He tries exploring truth and revealing existence from words and objects.Hecan write many kinds of essays, such as town prose, philosophical prose, ecologicalprose and regional prose, ect.This article mainly through some topic words (such as“words and things”,“existence”,“daily life”,“divinity” and “language”) from hiscollection to demonstrate his thinking of writing. This paper is divided into threechapters.Chapter One is about writing and existence. There are four matters in thischapter, they are existence and living, existence and shielding, unshielded andrevivification, the description of presence.Chapter two is about daily life. This chaptermainly talk about some divine issues about Yunnan in our daily life.Chapter three isabout words and objects. This chapter divided into two parts to emphasize colloquiallanguage. Yu Jian always insists that writing language should be straightforward andhe refuses using metaphor to describe the implication beyond words. Some opinionswere discussed in his collection of essays Palm-bark Notes, Yu Jian’s Anthology. Inhis essays, the important argument is the description of topic. He discussed therelations between description and words. His viewing angle from himself to someplants and then around the plants and at last reaches the imagination and observationof life.
