On The Status Of "Education" In Gadamer 's Philosophical Hermeneutics And Aesthetics

With the in-depth study of Gadamer’s Hermeneutics the concept of "Bildung" is more and more important. Now, Domestic scholars commence their study from the significance of "Bildung". They don’t have a comprehensive apprehension. Because of this, our understanding of "Bildung" is superficial and meagre.The core of this paper is to demonstrate the importance of " Bildung" in Gadamer’s philosophical and aesthetic thinking. As a consequence, fully describe the connotation of Gadamer’s "Bildung ". This paper is discussed from four aspects.Firstly, introduce five aspects which the scholars study on Gadamer’s Aesthetics Thought:artistic truth, existing mode of the aesthetic understanding, the effect of language in aesthetic activity, temporality and historicalness in aesthetic activity, Gadamer’s concept of aesthetics.Then, lead to the key point of this paper by analyzing and summarizing the main results and the current lack of the research of domestic "Bildung"thought. Thirdly, analyze the theoretical origins of Gadamer "Bildung" in the Western philosophy and aesthetics by investigating the evolution of the concept and meaning in " Bildung " and the foundation of " Bildung " in Gadamer’s philosophical aesthetics.At last, this paper thinks that Gadamer’s Hermeneutics can also be named " Bildung " Hermeneutics. We demonstrate the view conclusively from the relationship among four important Humanism conceptions which are " Bildung ", common senses、judgment and interest at the same time.The significance of this paper is that it makes up the deficiency which is ignored by scholars in the realization way of " Bildung ". Discuss in detail ways to achieve enlightenment from three aspects:virtue ethics, artistic aesthetics, the expression and explanation of language.In the conclusion part, this paper analysis and prospects the ultimate goal of " Bildung ", survival and aesthetic community of humanism.
