Exploration And Attempt Of "Embedded" Self - Portrait Creation

The paper’s subject is around self-portrait serials. The works, instead of expressing some concepts, are attempting to explore a pattern of manifestation of portraitures, which are taking my self as a creation object, giving me the biggest freedom.Most traditional portraitures have been portrait-centered, resulting in some stylization, whatever the pictures’ frame were designed. The renowned work Las Meninas, drawn by Velasquez: Painter is a corner as a supporting role in the picture, but also can complete express their inner world, is a distinctive self-portraits. Inspired by Solute Vermeer, a series of painting drawn by Jin Shangyi, I think of Vermeer’s classic works can be combined with a self-portrait. By doing so, I can realize my creation and express my respect and memorial for the master.The reason why I take Vermeers’ works as settings of portraiture is that I want to explore what I call ‘embedded pattern’ for the art, which means you could create a painting by placing modern people into classics you like. This set of creations is based upon Vermeers’ works and loyal to its classical mood, but obviously the originals have been changed dramatically and have interesting contrasts with new works, visually feeling some illusions of perversion of time and space.People and objects in my works consist of a virtual world, coming from my imagination of people, objects and their livings four centuries ago. Unlike Vermeers’ works pursuing reproduction of reality, mine is to pursue expression of idealization. What I want to express is not a unity of objective phenomenon and the picture, but the superposition of mind and illusion. I am attempting to express my willingness and ideals through self-portrait, which can reflect plain and warm life I love, and by which can chase and recall footprint of master. In a similar but different way, the time distance and spatial distance into the works in space conversion will worship and respect passed to Vermeer, is also transmitted to the current audience.
