Among so many nations in the world, the German nation is unique. From the establishment of the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation in 962 to 1871, Germany had never really achieved unification. After a long time of split, modern Germany finally finished the first unification in its true sense under the leadership of Bismarck, and established a unified bourgeois nation-state. The German ethnic factors played a key role in the unification of modem Germany. This paper aims to analyze the development of German national consciousness and the influence of German nationalism in the unification. Studying the German ethnic factors and the influence has some useful reference and significance for us to deal with the unification of China. |
