An Analysis Of Adam Shafu 's Humanitarianism

Humanitarian thought is an indispensable part of Marxism theoretical system, but with the development of the times, the elements of humanitarian thought were gradually neglected. After World War II, many scholars have tried to combine Marxism and humanitarianism. Sartre has also made some efforts in this combination, but he still can’t get away from the existential system. Adam Schaff,as a representative of the faithful Marxists, creatively put forward the idea of construction of socialist humanitarianism, to a certain extent, to fill the “the blank point”in Marxist theory. Specifically, this thesis is divided into the following four parts:The first part mainly discusses the origin of Schaff’s humanitarianism thought, which includes the arrangement of Poland’s historical and cultural traditions, the overview of the 20 th Congress of the Soviet Communist Party and reflection of the Stalinist system, the carding of western humanitarianism origin and the overview of Schaff’s humanitarian feelings.The introduction of the background knowledge contributes to the understanding of the historical and cultural environment, which helps us fully understand his humanitarian thought.The second part,according to the transformations of Schaff’s thoughts, the author make a preliminary stage to his all thoughts. In the 1940 s and 1950 s, his thoughts is located in the “orthodox” Marxism, showing the worship of Stalin system.,thereafter falls into the theoretical preparation period, the theoretical development period and the theoretical mature period. A Philosophy of Man and Marxism and the Human Individual that can be described as the foundation of his thoughts play a vital role in his humanitarian system. By clearly staging, we can more clearly grasp the context of his thoughts.The third part is the core of the article, which includes the connotation of Schaff’s humanism thought. He started from the criticism of Sartre’s existentialism, especially to criticize and sum up the people’s problems,so as to expand his humanitarian thought construction.Schaff has made a great contribution to the construction of socialist humanitarian theory, which is the quintessence in his theory. With his in-depth research on humanitarian theory, he summarized several prominent characteristics for Marxism humanitarianism. These features are flash points in Schaff’s humanism theory and enable us to know more Marxism humanitarianism content. In addition, his research on the alienation is unique and practical, which not only criticized the alienation of the capitalist countries, but also narrated and criticized the alienation of socialist countries.The fourth part is the impact and evaluation on the Schaff’s humanitarianism thought. His influence includes the cultural and political influence in the Poland and international place. Also his humanistic evaluation contains positive contributions and shortcomings.The author hopes that some domestic scholars can correct the understanding of Schaff’s thought through this evaluation.Schaff’s humanitarian thought is an important part of the Marxist humanitarianism, understanding this idea can not only strengthens our Marxism faith and adheres to the correct direction, but also can provide reference and help for the cause of our Chinese characteristic socialist construction. Therefore, only adhering to the Marxist humanitarianism and persisting in the people-oriented, can we forge ahead and keep going; even we use excellent culture at home and abroad that suit us and remember the past, can’t we take the old road or go astray.
