English reading comprehension always takes a large proportion in middle school English examination. To some extent, students’ English reading ability influences their scores. One factor is psychological factor. Anxiety seriously impacts students’ English reading.In addition, some students will feel anxious in their English study. In our country,English class teaching is a main approach to learn English. Anxiety will decrease students’ English learning efficiency.It is necessary to decrease students’ English reading anxiety and English classroom anxiety. It also promotes school teaching positively.The survey research, which is based on a review of several studies on the issue,investigates middle school students’ English classroom anxiety and English reading anxiety. The result shows that the majority experiences medium or high degree of English reading anxiety and English classroom anxiety. Besides, boys feel more anxious than girls. Meanwhile, students in small city feel more anxious than students in big city. Moreover, students’ English reading anxiety correlated significantly with their English classroom anxiety.On the basis of survey research, an intervention study, which aims at decreasing students’ English reading anxiety and English classroom anxiety, is carried out among22 students by using an interactive reading approach group counseling. The 22 students are divided into two groups. One is experimental group and the other is control group. The experimental group receives counseling and the control group doesn’t. The result shows that interactive reading approach group counseling can decrease middle school students’ English reading anxiety and English classroom anxiety.
