CA holds prominent significances to understanding linguistic differences, language teaching and studying the essences of languages. This report examines Chapter Three of Contrastive Analysis by Carl James, 1980. The author of this report concludes the text features of academic writings and discusses the problems during translations, such as misunderstanding and equivalent-expression. The author also proposes relative translation strategies and methods from certain perspectives such as the contextual meaning of the words and the structure and the coherences regarding the translation of the sentences. This practice provides methods and references to E-C translation of the academic writings of CA. It also offers useful materials to the theoretical basis of domestic CA studies.
