"Human Buddhism" And Chinese Buddhism Modernization

The dissertation is written by dynamic perspective mainly with two aspects, on the background of China in the 20 th century. On one hand, the thesis teases the venation of the Humanistic Buddhism from Tai Xu to Yin Shun, Xing Yun and Zhao Puchu; On the other hand, it discloses deeply the relation between coming into being and development of the Humanistic Buddhism and the modernization of Buddhism. The Humanistic Buddhism provides both the foundation of the modernization of Buddhism and a manifest direction, which furnishes sufficient theoretical sport to the practice of the modernization of Buddhism. The reason why the Humanistic Buddhism can adapt to the modernization of Buddhism is that it has the superiority both Zen and Pure Land Buddhism, which is fit to modern society. The Humanistic Buddhism plays an impotent role to the modernization of Buddhism. For one thing, it can promote the transition of Buddhism from the traditional type to the modern type, for another, it can guide the Buddhism to adapt to the socialist modernization and take part in the society. In addition,it holds considerable sway.
