On The Allowable Condition Of "Any" In Chinese

The study on the licensing conditions of Chinese negative word "renhe" has been one of the researches in Chinese. This study primarily concerns with the systematic research of the Chinese negative words "renhe" from the angles of the distribution and the licensing conditions, and compares with the negative words in English. It tries to solve the next three questions:(1) What is the definition of the Chinese negative words? (2) What is the distribution of the Chinese negative words? (3) What is the licensing conditions of the Chinese negative word? The innovation of this paper is that it made a systematic research of the negative words and a comparative analysis of the phenomenon of Chinese and English negative words.This paper firstly introduces the definition of negative words and Polarity Sensitive phenomenon. Secondly, the negative words are summarized from the multiple aspects, and they are understood detailed by searching for the relevant information and learning the process of such research at home and abroad. Thirdly, the licensing conditions of negative words in Chinese is described and classified elaborately. Fourthly, in order to find out the classification and the licensing condition of Chinese negative word "renhe", a detailed analysis and a further study of it have been made. Finally, the similarities and differences of the licensing conditions in use are found out through the comparison of "renhe" in Chinese and "any" in English.The paper combines with many theories, lists different kinds of examples, describes the licensing conditions of Chinese negative word "renhe", so it plays an important role in the process of the future Chinese studies, especially reflects more value in the study of the weak negative items. The results can be used for a variety of "renhe" relevant context, in Chinese.
