A Study On The Story Of "Betrayal" In "San Yan" And "Er Pai"

Sanyan and erpai are the representative literature works in Ming dynasty, plenty of story plots are described in them, from royalty to the common people, the characters in these stories are variety, and the social life of the Ming dynasty are fully showed in these story. As one of the types of these stories, the love affair stories occupy a large proportion, show the yearning and pursuit of the free emotion and reality appetitive. A different ending to the story also implies the different attitude towards betrayal behavior of the author, which is appropriating affirm the reasonable desire and the criticizing of the people who indulge in desire and break the moral base line.Based on the achievements of other researchers, this paper analyzed the love affair stories, in order to accomplish the analysis, the thesis includes three parts except the exordium and concluding remarks.In the chapter of exordium, the research of the marriage and love story and the love affair story at present are summarized, the reason why to select this subject and the meanings of this research are interpreted at the same time.Chapter 1 is the summary of the love affair stories in Sanyan and erpai, and the stories are divided into four kinds: the unmarried, the married, the widows and the nuns from the angle of women. Also, the stories are described as who is the active one, in every kind.Chapter 2 describes different ending of stories, just like get married, died(be killed or suicide), be punished or married someone else, which are divided into the happy outcome and the sorrowful ending two kinds, and the meaning of admonish of the ending are also analyzed in this part.Chapter 3 is the central link of this paper which summarizing the reasons lead to the behavior of love affair through the stories. The reasons of traditional ethics is the innovation of the thesis, which are analyzed from the angles of the traditional concept of marriage, monogamy for common people, Chinese patriarchal clan system, the concept that men are superior to women, and “the three obedience and four virtues”, so that we can analyze the relationship between love affair and traditional ethics. In addition, the reason of economy、ideological and the interest of urban residents are also described which lead to the betray behavior.Chapter of concluding remarks is the conclusion of this paper, further explanation are gave which include the meaning of admonish, the reasons and the shortcomings of this paper.
