These rural novels show the farmer’s survival conditions as the theme, and profoundly expose the changes of farmers in psychological and spiritual aspects under various living plight, so in the works of Liu Zhenyun he did not blindly chant the praises of farmers and show his sympathy to them, meanwhile, he also mercilessly criticized farmers and revealed the ugly side of their minds, and focused on exploring the reasons about the existence predicament of farmers. Liu Zhenyun’s cool persistent writing style makes his rural novels represent the survival situations of farmers at different stages, therefore, while the readers are shocked they can also understand the hardship and the difficulties of the farmers who are becoming selfish and indifferent in order to survive.So Liu Zhenyun can be regarded as a great writer with the compassionate feelings, and his works are no longer limited to a particular scope but overflow the scope of art and literature and have a universal value and ultimate metaphysical feelings.He gave people and the modern society the valuable life inspiration and society enlightenment, and expected a wonderland for poetic human life, which is the character and morals a contemporary writer should have.This thesis is mainly divided into three parts: the introduction focuses on the value of the research status and the reasons for this thesis, doing in-depth exploration and positioning to the writing about the farmers in Liu Zhenyun’s rural novels. The first part of the body is about the folk living from Liu Zhenyun’s pen and analyzes the farmers’ survival circumstances at different stages and how they struggle to survive. Through the study we found, in Liu Zhenyun’s opinion, farmers’ survival mainly experienced the torture of material poverty, the oppression of power mechanism and the current mental embarrassment. The second part discusses the reasons for farmers’ difficult subsistence, through the reading and the analysis, we can find the main reasons include the harsh natural environment, the political environment of corruption, the lagging economic system and the deep-rooted bad habits of the farmers.The third part mainly explores the significance of Liu Zhenyun’s writing about the peasant. In Liu Zhenyun’s works, the image of the farmer occupied a large part of the content, even in the works about the city subjects you can also find the farmers’ image, themain significance of which is enlighten the spirit passed on to a new generation and the great humanitarian feelings based on the love and the suffering Liu Zhenyun experienced.
