In recent years, with the improvement of foreign students’ Chinese language level, writing ability will face higher challenge in the field of teaching Chinese as a second language. Thesis is one of the embodiment. The research object of this paper is the theses of foreign students,on the basis of two small corpora-foreigners’ graduation theses corpus and academic journals corpus. Through comparative analysis, the paper inspects foreign students ’theses’ stylistic features from five dimensions, including objectivity, accuracy, logic, the density of vocabulary and sentence length. In addition, this article combines quantitative analysis with qualitative analysis together by employing the methods of interviewing teachers who guide foreign students’theses and questionnaires of foreign students, with the aim to see foreigners’stylistic awareness in the process of writing, and then to suggest some advices about the theses writing for foreign students.The thesis consists of six chapters:Chapter Ⅰ:Introduction. It gives us a general overview of the whole study including the research background and reason, the process, value and methods of this research.Chapter Ⅱ:Related research review. This chapter gives an overview of the theory and related research findings of style, which is the basis and foundation part of this paper.Chapter Ⅲ:Stylistic features inspection. This part inspects foreign students’ stylistic features from five dimensions of the objectivity, accuracy, logic, the density of vocabulary and sentence length, by comparing two small corpora built by the author.Chapter Ⅳ:Stylistic awareness inspection. This part inspects foreigners’ stylistic awareness mainly depends on the result of questionnaires of foreign students and interviewing with teachers.Chapter V:Advices about theses writing. This chapter gives some advices to foreign students about writing theses based on the above research findings.Chapter VI:Conclusion. This chapter makes a summarization and points out some shortcomings of this study, and some recommendations are also made for further study.
