From Paper To Soil - The Application Of Origami Effect In Ceramic Art

Art of ceramic with a long history has a very rich expression in the modern society. Unlike traditional ceramic creation, art of ceramic in the modern world are not confined to a particular shape or a specified application. In the imitation of one material form to another, many works of ceramic show the heterogeneous material texture or shape. This would expand the creative ideas for arts and bring a new artistic experience during the conflicts of collision. Today, many domestic and foreign ceramic artists dedicate to combined origami art with the ceramic creation, to explore this new emerging art form, and bring a lot of innovative technology, unique art work. This thesis will start with origami art, demonstrate the application of origami art in ceramic three-dimensional modeling and ceramic surface decoration. In the case study chapter, the thesis give some examples of different styles of ceramic artists, designers as well as their classic works, and discuss how to apply the origami art in the creation of ceramic. In the third part,the author show the study work in modeling, technology and expression of origami-shape ceramic creation, and try to interpret the ideas of the works combining with her own creating experience.
