Cheng Ju(1078-1144),also named Zhi Dao,born in Qu Zhou Kai Hua(now belone to ZheJiang).He was an influential official,poet and scholar in Song Dynasty, and was active duringthe periods of Emperor Zhezong,Huizong and Gaozong.He was born in a family ofConfucianism,and worked as a secretary of the emperor for many years.Due to the aboveexperience,he’d able to read a lot of classical literatures to boost his knowledges and becomemore erudite.His character poems were known for their strengths,rhymes,and the elegant,can becalled one of the brightest in the coetaneous literati group.This article is composed of introduction and four chapters:The introduction mainly to show the value of the study of Cheng Ju,introduce the literaryworks of Cheng Ju and the shortage of the study of Cheng Ju and his poetry.Chapter One analyzes Cheng Ju’s all life experience, mainly to write his family history andpolitical activities,to provide the background information to the study of Cheng Ju’s literature.Cheng Ju was born in a Confucian family, which family tradition was erudite,honest andupright.the strong family tradition learning atmosphere droved poet became a Scholar and agood official.But his upright character made him hard to survive in the dark and complex political circles.Chapter Two mainly discourse Cheng Ju’s life attitude.Admittedly been relieved of dutyrepeatedly due to speak bluntly and state outright,but watching his poetry did not have muchcomplaints of injustice, more of a rejoicing of escaping the officialdom, backing tonature,expressing the idle attitude towards life.The poet declared that “only love the desolatewilderness of the free”,“free”, reflects not only a poet’s life style, but also the freedom realmof soul,which was tired of suffering mundane fetters and and tasting Suffocatingenvironment.Chapter Three research Cheng Ju’s poetic imagery,by analysis the relevance between thepoetry image and the art features.This chapter mainly from the natural imagery and culturalimagery two aspects to analysis the features of poetry.The fourth chapter research the poetry’s art features,by analyzes the artistic origin.Becauseof the life situation was similar with Liu Zongyuan and Bai Juyi’s,and had deep admirers withTao Yuanming and Xie Lingyun,these people had a deep and natural influence in Chneg Ju’spoetry.This chapter focuses to analysis the deep impact which came from those people,and digthe origin artistic characteristics from those people.In conclusion，on the basis of previous studies on Cheng Ju,This article is to researchCheng Ju and his poetry by study Cheng Ju’s family background ,social intercourse,political activities and his literature,strive to has a systematic andcomprehensive understanding and grasp.
