So this paper tentatively the Ili river valley tombs divided into four periods.Through the analysis of tomb structures and potteries in Ili River basin in Xinjiang, it is discovered that the four-stage division of archaeological culture in this region contains the two categories of historical concept, i.e., the Bronze Age and the early Iron Age. The first stage, with middle-late Andronovo culture as the main body, is from the 17th century BC to the 10th century BC. The period with Suodunbulake culture as the main chronological scope is from the 10th century BC to the 2nd century BC, which is divided into the second and the third stages in this paper, with the second stage from the end of the 10th century BC to the 6th century BC and the third stage from the end of 6th century BC to the 2nd century BC. The fourth stage is from the 2nd century BC to around the Christian era, especially after mid-2nd century BC, when Suodunbulake culture is gradually absorbed and replaced by the up-rising Wusun culture. The development of these four stages experience three different cultural bodies, i.e., Andronovo culture in the early period, Suodunbulake culture in the middle period, and Wusun culture in the late period. Among them, Andronovo culture does not develop and evolve in this region, Suodunbulake culture is not the successor of the former, and Wusun culture has more absorption and integration. Therefore, the Prehistoric archaeological culture of Ili River basin in Xinjiang cannot be solely seen as an archaeological culture but the one with evolution of the three cultures above.
