A Study On The Linkage Structure Of Jingxi And

Serial verb constructions have been one research focus for many grammarians. Relatively rich SVC phenomena exist in Jingxi Zhuang language. Based on Hewen Zhuang dialect in Jingxi Province, this thesis has a relatively systematic description and analysis of SVC by field work research and descriptive linguistic methods, aiming at presenting a foll picture of SVC in Hewen Zhuang. All together there are five chapters in this thesis. The first chapter is an overview, which is about the significance, methods of this study, and current situations of SRC. Also source of data and brief outline of Hewen Zhuang are manifested. Chapter two focuses on types of Hewen SRC. According to the semantic relations between verb and verb, seven types of SRC can be divided, naming the continued, the simultaneous, the purposive, the cause-effect, the synonymic, the benefactive, and the instrumental etc. Each type is described and analyzed respectively. Chapter three concerns relation between Hewen SRC and its objects. Single-object sentences and double-objects sentences in SRC are discussed in particular. Chapter four is on relations between Hewen SRC and its adverbials. Relations between Hewen SRC and negative, temporal, scope, degree adverbials, and among others are tentatively examined here. Chapter five draws conclusion. Summarize findings of the present study and point out the shortcomings for further research in the future. The appendix provides the outline of Hewen language’s phonetic system and a story.
