The Musical Style And Singing Revelation Of Rossini 's Artistic Songs

Gioacchino Antonio Rossini was a famous Italian musician, who reached his peak at the period that Italian devoted themselves to unification of the motherland and national liberation. Rossini created his works with a strong traditional Italian style and breathed new life into Italian opera with reform and innovation. Therefore he was regarded as one of the greatest composers in Italy.Rossini’s works involved in many domains such as opera, art song and chamber music. Especially he contributed a lot to the development of the Italian bel canto. For example, in order to ensure the intentions of the author present to the audience, it limited the singer’s self-fulfillment. In his creation of art songs, he involved the "coloratura" and "crescendo and weakening type" as technique, which was a big challenge of basic skills of singer. His opera creation technique and style continued into the composition of art songs to music genre are more artistic and dramatic. Rossini’s influence lasted today in the field of vocal music, whose works has have become the criterion of vocal music teaching today.This paper is based on the viewpoint of "Rossini music style of art songs and singing" for the research and mainly discuss creation characteristic of Rossini art songs. La regata veneziana is taken as the example and supplements from the experience of author on two Rossini art songs that were, Promise and Invitation, performed at the concert. It discusses the creation style of Rossini’s art songs, which will also be combined with field performance of Cecilia Bartoli that sang the song and analyzed the singing style of singer with Rossini’s art songs.The content of the chapters in this paper are arranged as following:The first chapter is introduction. It introduces selected topic aims and meanings first, and then summarizes the research achievements of scholars in this field at home and abroad, presents main research methods of this paper as well.The second chapter is about the creation background of Rossini’s art song and describes Rossini in order to comprehend his era background. It summarizes the general situation of Italian art songs in the 19th century, and creation of art song of other composers.The third chapter is about Rossini’s music style of art song. The features of art song creation are summarized by studying Rossini opera. La regata veneziana is analyzed next.The fourth chapter describes vocal music learning benefits from Rossini art songs. First it introduces the importance of Italian art songs in vocal music learning, and then elaborates the advantage of Rossini art songs for vocal music study and gains in deep comprehension of singing.
