The family is along with the person’s life.The people’s lifestyle and values are cultivated in the family. Compared to the western culture emphasis on the individual’s realization, Chinese people often regard the family as primary consideration. Since ancient times, the Chinese culture has a tradition of taking family seriously. Faced with family interests and authority, personal values should be neglected. Family has a special connotation for Chinese people.In traditional society,the family play a vital role in people’s behavior. Social turmoil and the reform of traditional culture have a huge influence on family values in modern times. In addition,with the spread of western culture, traditional family values become a symbol of feudalism. The family values are faced with difficulties under multicultural. Family is an indispensable part of person’s whole life. Family is as important for society and people. Every step of social progress is a result from countless families’ contribution. Family is a concept that has rich meanings, which are both materially and mentally. Each family is responsible for national hope and destiny. The change of values is along with the way of existence. People are confronted with spiritual desert because of the fragmented existing way. Someone predict that family is about to collapse according to the type of western family. The tendency of modern family values has become an imperative problem for everyone.Based on the meaning of family values, this thesis explores the formation of traditional family values, and notes that the challenges faced by traditional values in a modern, and finally puts forward the development trend of modern family and its values. The new emerging family patterns marked the current caused by changes in people’s life and family values issues. Family values can help people to reconstruct people’s mind.Home can be a powerful tool, can also become a final mental territory.Families can become a means of social progress, can also become a final mental territory. Home is the complete recognition of the social role of each individual,it can also unlock the identity dilemma of present generations. Family values will benefit the public and private, which is a consensus that is reached by people under multicultural background.
