The language use cannot be abstracted away from the language context, and the language context has a close relation with discourse’s generation and comprehension. If we want to achieve the expected communication effect, our choice of language should be coordinated and adapted to the context during language practicing. This research has analyzed and studied the issues of the contexts of the written notification. The methods we adopt in the study include dialectical materialism method, logical method, literature research method and case study method. We always insist on the principles of seeking truth from facts and combing theory with practice. Firstly, basing on the literature study, we analyzed and summarized the essence and content of the written notification context. We divided the written notification context into two parts that were linguistic context and communicative context, the communicative context including five elements: notification users, the mental world, physical world, social world, and cultural world. Then, we analyzed the result of language adaptation of several typical notifications selected as samples from more than two hundred written notifications with various types collected. Finally, using language context adaptation theory and combining with the analysis of examples, we summed up five principles of language adaptation of written notification: quality principle, relation principle, manner principle, politeness principle, and flexible principle. We also concluded some strategies to adapt language context of written notification: promoting writing ability, adhering to the people-centered thought, considering the characteristics of audience’s mood, holding the features of notification medium, following the rule of official affairs, and broadening one’s horizon. The research on the language context adaptation of written notification could help people to enhance their writing level of notification, expand the study perspective on notification, and promote applying the linguistic study to language practice.
