As one of the greatest composers during that period, his composition was influenced by both the Romanticism and Vienna Classical Style. Under this situation, his compositions show a unique artistic style of the combine of these two different styles.51 excises was written in the late life of Brahms, which is the period when Brahms has created mature skills and it is valuable to be studied. Different from other meaning of “etude” in the modern sense, 51 excises does not depend on the tone to expend the work while each excise is more inclined to specific skills or certain kinds of training. In this case, compared with the title of “etude”, it is more likely to be the concept of “piano training excises study”. Somehow, this excise is not that popular. With the analysis and the research, I found this excise is the key to perform the compositions of Brahms,As a student of piano playing and teaching, combined with my own experience and knowledge, together with relevant literature, I wrote this paper aims to give my humble, explore the value and significance of piano finger exercises, inadequate reflection of piano education and feasibility. I did not expect to fill the subject blank, but modest help to the one who learns piano.
